I have no problem rocking a swimsuit today after loosing 60lbs.
Taking care of yourself isn't a selfish act, stop feeling guilty about "ME" time. ME time is an opportunity to recharge & love yourself so you can be a bigger and better blessings to everyone around you. When you rob yourself of enhancing yourself you rob all those around you. It's not ALL about"ME" its all about be the BEST YOU, you can be for those you love.

    Overcome Emotional Eating

    Overcome Emotional Eating

    Day 19

    21 Day Transformation Challenge

    1. FAITH~
Overcome Emotional Eating by putting God first (Matt 6:33) and foremost each day, creating a daily relationship with Him will strengthen (Eph 6:10), enable and empower you to take on every obstacle and overcome each battle by faith. The more you know God, the more you know Him, the more you trust, rely and turn to Him, just like you would a best friend.  Make God your best friend not food and turn to Him in prayer and praise just like Paul did in Acts 16:25 &26.

    Push through it!
Distract your mind with exercise: exercise releases anger, stress, worries, anxieties, emotions, etc.  Don't react to your situation when your emotional, take a time out and distract your mind with exercise so you can breathe, release the tension, recoup and rethink your situation out more clearly.   A clear mind allows you to use wisdom and guides you towards prayer and praise verses food and negative words.

Dancing to Praise & Worship music is a great combination of faith and fitness!

Exercise Bonus:  Causes you to crave healthy foods...

    3. FOOD ~ Food is 80% of the challenge so lets dive a bit deeper and focus on food...

    • Be mindful of why you are eating: emotions, boredom, failure, procrastination, laziness, food pictures, friends, smells.  Journal and take note of whats influencing you to eat when your not hungry
    • Take your journal notes and do your homework: research, Livestrong, webmd, medicinenet, mayoclinic, etc
    • eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3hrs to stay fueled up so your mind can work properly, able to handle any battle
    • Drink plenty of water, think clearer... dehydration causes headaches, which equals emotions
    • Food prevention: remove unhealthy foods your home, office, lunch setting so you won't binge when emotional
    • never go anywhere, especially parties, grocery shopping and restaurants on an empty stomach, empty stomach equals trouble
    • step away from the buffet, the banquets, the bread basket, peanut dish, the candy jar and get distracted, ask to help clean, organize, set up, take pictures of all the guest, engage in conversation, keep busy
    • be prepared always, have gum, water, nuts, small meals & snacks with you at all times in case you get stuck somewhere longer than expected
    • never skip meals! skipping meals & binging on one meal a day is how a sumo wrestler trains to gain weight, so think of a sumo wrestle when tempted to skip a meal
    • never eliminate too much, too fast, take baby steps, take each day, one day at a time or you will go wild and binge when a problem or emotion occurs.
    • Prepare before dining out: have a meal set in your mind and refuse to look at the menus if possible, for pictures or descriptions of food can cause an emotional reaction, which may cause you to fail.  Always order specifically to your needs: "spray, no butter, chicken or fish, double up on veggies or add brown rice  please"... be loving, kind, and thankful when ordering!! :-D
    • Sleep:  skip the late night cravings and drink water, brush your teeth and go to bed.  Lack of sleep equals lack of control, give your body the rest it needs to function and think properly!
    • Children rarely eat all their food so cut back on their serving sizes to ensure you won't indulge on their left overs.
    • Check your BMI and keep record of your calorie intake, this time consuming task will distract you from mindless eating and keep you accountable.
    • Count your calorie intake and out take: when you see how many calories is in a bag of potato chips or cookies vs calories  burnt you will think twice about indulging or binging
      Start cleansing

      My favorite replacements
      Pray & Praise vs Binging
      Exercise vs Binging
      Shakeology vs Binging

Please POST what you discovered and learn about Emotional Eating below.  And please post what other challenges your facing when striving to live healthy daily so I can help you tackle your next obstacle.

      Day 18 Improvement

      Day 18 Improvement
      21 Day Transformation Challenge

Improvement ~ Today you get to choose the area you want to improve on!

Continuous Improvement causes us to think about the upstream process not the downstream damage control.
Read Ephesians 4 and rely on God

       1. Improve your Faith

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

      Choose to improve:
      • Building a relationship with God: know Him and hear from Him! Romans 1:19 &20
      • Praising and Thanking Him more:  edifies our Spirit, brings joy, victory and faith Psalm 92:1
      • Studying His Word (study the a topic you need to improve on: patience, diligence, love, peace etc)
      • Attending Church/ finding a church: get enriched & blessed!  Luke11:28
      • Listening to your Pastor via CD or podcast::  Ecc 10:12

      2. Strengthen your weakness

2 Corinthians 2: 9 & 10 ...“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Get determined and improve where you are weak:
      • Stretching: reduces muscle tension, Increases range of movement in the joints, enhances muscular coordination, increased circulation of the blood to various parts of the body, increases energy levels (resulting from increased circulation) ~spark people
      • abs : strengthen your core, strengthen your back, improves posture
      • strength train: burn more fat, leaner body, healthier & longer life
      • proper form: to prevent injury
      • increase weights: to always progress
      • cardio: raise heart rate, lengthen, strengthen your life

      3. Tighten up your diet ~ eat cleaner & healthier

2 Corinthians 6: 19 & 20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Study and learn about your current so called favorite cravings and replace them with a healthier choice.   Be determined to learn to fall in love with life giving foods and soon you will create new healthy cravings!  Study via: Webmd, sparkpeople, livestrong, etc

      Eat healthier & cleaner:

Don't have time to eat tons of veggies or fruits enjoy 20 vitamins and minerals by drinking Shakeology daily: www.myshakeology.com/angelacastro

If you over eat, curb your appetite:

      Day 17 No Judgement

      Day 17
      21 Day Transformation Challenge
      No Judgement
"If you judge people, you don't have time to love them."
      ~Mother Theresa
Don't Judge, Love!  Don't Judge yourself, accept who you truly are and get rid of the failure mentality the enemy tries to bestow on you!  A failure mindset will only hinder your faith walk of Healthy Living for the mind, body and soul.   Don't take ownership in it, rebuke it and walk in love knowing who you are... You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you, YOU are Victorious Athletes for God, whom God loves and enriches with blessings, wisdom, knowledge, power, control, healing, wealth, confidence... accept it, take ownership of it by speaking it, walking in it and acting on it! Love yourself and who God created you to be, a model of Him, created in His image and likeness to walk in love and overcome all things including the enemy.  You have ALL the control, take it back, take back what is rightfully yours!
      Do all things with love.
Walk in love and forgiveness not judgement:
You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you. Psalm 86:5

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
      Ephesians 5:2

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
      John 13:34

1.Don't Judge Others : Accept others as God accepts them with love and see their heart not their faults!
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8
People often judge you for being simply who you are:  positive, happy, down,  fit,  fat,  poor,  rich,  blessed, old, young, black, white, a Pastor,  a mentor, a teacher, a child of God... the list goes on and on.  Ever stop and ask why?  1. Lack of Knowledge 2.Pride 3. Deceit, lies of the enemy

John 8:7 Jesus asked  a group of men accusing a woman of adultery..."If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

      1. Lack of knowledge of Gods Word:  Don't be so quick to judge, we all fall short of the glory of God.  Walk in love always, forgiving and praying for those in need.

Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin"? Proverbs 20:9

      2. Pride: Judgement is another form of pride, don't be so proud you think you know it all so you can judge others, the only one with the right to judge is God.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Corinthians 13:4

Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. Proverbs 18:12
      • Do not be prideful, do not be judgmental, for it only hinders your walk of Healthy Living for the mind, body and soul. Choose to walk in love and enrich your life.

      3. Deceit, lies of the devil:  there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.. John 8:44

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10

      2. Don't judge off appearances

I use to judge people who were fit assuming they were naturally fit, born athletes or blessed with good genes, until I learned most fit athletes have a story, a success story.  And the same goes for most people over weight, they have a story of a tragedy,  injury or loss.  Don't judge, get to know people, learn their stories, see their hearts and be blessed by their words and let them inspire you to progress in your walk of Healthy Living!

My transformation began when I saw and heard many before and after stories from friends, instructors Pastors.  Knowing the truth will set you free, free from judgement and free to learn.  Learn by asking, listening and seeking help from those around you, ask their story.

      3.  Love Don't Judge:  Don't judge people blessed with high metabolisms, be thankful you have to eat healthy for your healthy choices strengthens and lenthens your life.

Don't judge and don't be deceived, just because they  get to eat whatever they want doesn't give you the luxury of joining their diet habits.
